Special thanks to everyone who braved the rain to have their vote counted on Scotia-Glenville's School Budget. No matter your choice, participation was important and shows all of us that involvement in our schools is a worthy activity.

President Obama Makes 3rd Trip to Capital Region

This month the president made his 3rd visit to neighboring communities since taking office. While some may say this was a political based campaign stop, NY is a traditional blue state that most agree he already has wrapped up.

It might be the Solar Installation Education at Hudson Valley Community College, the Wind Turbines made at General Electric in Schenectady or SUNY's College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering, but there's one thing clear; The New York Capital Region has the type of "Change" President Obama can believe in. One popular quote of the day was, "I want what’s happening in Albany to happen all across the country".

An invitation-only crowd of over 500 were on hand to greet the President and hear him praise the work being done at the College and at the new GlobalFoundries chip plant in nearby Malta.

Our area has certainly become the new Tech Valley and the Village of Scotia will enjoy the benefits. A new Target is coming to Glenville, new upscale apartments on Mohawk Ave and even long term executive housing is being planned. Housing prices have stablized and we're starting to see "For Sale" signs changing to "Sold".

The number of top-rated colleges within driving distance to Scotia provides a wide range of utstanding choices. The popularity of Schenectady County Community College (walking distance to the village) has spurred the building of new student housing not common for a two year school.

The event was covered by all the local news outlets who enjoyed a chance to interview our friends now serving in Washington.  Elisa Streeter (WTEN) gets an update from Rep. Paul Tonko.

Even after a very long day Marci Natale (WRGB) manages a smile for the independent camera from BillP Studios who provides VisitScotia.com as a free community service.
